Sunan Abi Dawud 5073
Gratitude for the day’s blessing
Narrator: Abdullah ibn Ghannam al-Bayadi (r.a.)
Numbering: Sunnah.com
The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said: “Whoever says in the morning: ‘O Allah, whatever blessing I have entered the morning with is from You alone, You have no partner; to You belongs all praise and to You belongs all gratitude’ — he has fulfilled the gratitude of his day; and whoever says the like of it in the evening has fulfilled the gratitude of his night.”

Al-Albani’s ruling on Sunan Abi Dawud 5073

Himpunan Risalah, footnote no. 101
He attributes it to Abu Dawud, al-Nasa’i and Ibn Hibban in his Sahih.
Acting on a weak report in fada’il al-a‘mal
Imam al-Nawawi writes in al-Adhkar: “The scholars among the hadith specialists, the jurists and others have said: it is permitted and encouraged to act, in matters of merit and of encouragement and warning, upon a weak hadith — so long as it is not fabricated (mawdu‘).” As for rulings such as the lawful and unlawful, sale, marriage and divorce, these may rest only on a sahih or hasan report.
The conditions Ibn ‘Allan states in al-Futuhat al-Rabbaniyya (1/84): (1) the report is neither fabricated nor severely weak; (2) it falls under an established general principle; and (3) when acting on it one does not hold it to be established from the Prophet (peace be upon him), but acts out of precaution.

Notes
Abu Dawud’s wording above does not include “or with any of Your creation”. Sheikh Redwan’s Malay citation follows the longer wording of another route; Qawiy has not checked the wordings of al-Nasa’i and Ibn Hibban.
A tension worth noting: Sheikh Redwan reports that Ibn Hibban included it in his Sahih, while al-Albani graded this Abu Dawud route weak. This card shows only what has been verified.
